Is it considered discriminating if a dark green Martian push a light green Martian in a wheelchair in SA?
March 14th, 2011spotting and no one cares?
January 25th, 2011i am 28 weeks pregnant and i am a certified nurses assistant. My job requires tons of heavy lifting and i have to be on my feet all day. I have been having back problems and problems with my feet swelling at the end of the day and Saturday night i was sent to the emergency room for spotting. My OB doctor does not seem to think she needs to see me before my next scheduled appointment which is on the 23rd. so i took it upon myself to go and see my family doctor hoping to get a note for light duty. She told me that i needed to see my OB for that since it is pregnancy related ( when i asked for light duty at my last OB appointment she told me to go see my family doctor.) I DO NOT feel safe returning back to my regular duties at work after what happened. I know that they say that whatever physical activities you did before you where pregnant it is safe to continue them, but i have only been doing this job for four months and im seven months pregnant. my body was not use to the stress before and its not used to it now. every time i have to pick someone up and put them in their wheelchair i can feel the strain in my belly and back. i have already tried talking to my employer about putting me on a lineup that wouldn’t require so much lifting and she pretty much told me without a doctors note i am shit out of luck. why wont anyone help me out?
When I was at the hospital, this old man in a wheelchair had light green skin (all over) ..what's that called?
January 9th, 2011What is it called when people have green skin? My mom told me it was ganrene, but I looked it up & it didn’t seem like that’s what it was called?

ELEVATOR MAGIC!!!!!!!!!!!!?
December 30th, 2010A hillbilly family took a vacation to New York City. One day, the father took his son into a large building. They were amazed by everything they saw, especially the elevator at one end of the lobby. The boy asked, "What’s this, Paw?"
The father responded, "Son, I have never seen anything like this in my life. I don’t know what it is!"
While the boy and his father were watching in wide-eyed astonishment, an old lady in a wheelchair rolled up to the moving walls and pressed a button. The walls opened and the lady rolled between them into a small room. The walls closed and the boy and his father watched small circles of lights above the walls light up. They continued to watch the circles light up in the reverse direction. The walls opened again, and a voluptuous twenty-four-year old woman stepped out.
The father turned to his son and said, "Go get your maw!"
Why can't Regis Philbin help his son?
November 24th, 2010Daniel Philbin, son of Live! host Regis, lives just a few miles from me. I wasn’t aware of this until the local paper published an article last fall that briefly outlined Daniel’s current quest for stable employment.
FYI, Daniel was born with a birth defect that left him with a spine lacking several vertebrae and his legs underdeveloped. His legs were later amputated. He had a job in the offices of the Defense Dept for awhile before leaving. I don’t recall what circumstances caused him to leave.
Since that time, he has worked some odd jobs, including making crafts with his wife to sell at the street fair, but has basically been struggling to survive. The newspaper article detailed his experience when he went for an interview at a local radio station. The station had no means to get him and his wheelchair in their building. I don’t know if the station was later cited for failure under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but Daniel was naturally unable to work there regardless.
Daniel’s wife has been financially stressed and has asked Regis for monetary assistance for the family. Daniel hasn’t asked directly, possibly for issues of pride. Daniel was raised with the assistance of the Angel View Foundation, he went to state colleges (not Notre Dame like his father), and he has lived his life in a wheelchair. His ambition has been to work in media/journalism, the same field his father has flourished in.
Regis has made an embarrassingly rich living by hosting a silly morning show. He comes across as a very personable and compassionate man. So why can’t this man do something to help his son succeed? How can Regis live such a jolly, lavish life while his son tries to sell hand-decorated light-switch plates to put food in his mouth? This doesn’t make sense.
Yes, it’s for real. I’m sure a google search would turn up info to confirm it.
Daniel is in his early 40s. When Regis’ career had taken off, Daniel was still a young child. At least Angel View Foundation was around to help raise Daniel.
Daniel had a birth defect and has never had legs to stand on. It’s not like he’s been a philandering drunk or junkie who’s used dad’s dough for filthy habits. I don’t see why the remark was made about "bailing him out every time." The tough love analogy makes no sense in these circumstances. Heck, wouldn’t it be nice if Regis did something to show that he even CARED?
No more responses?
Either people THINK this is a joke, or I posted in the wrong subcategory.
Or Regis just isn’t that popular these days?

What do you think of Stephen Hawkings new ideas and theories?
November 6th, 2010Do you believe his theories are possible, about how the Universe has been created,or would you say he’s spiritually blinded by lack of faith in Gods description of how He created all things,in His book the King James bible?
God did not create Universe: Hawking
Module body
Thu Sep 2, 7:50 AM
LONDON (AFP) – God no longer has any place in theories on the creation of the Universe due to a series of developments in physics, British scientist Stephen Hawking said in extracts published Thursday from a new book.

In a hardening of the more accommodating position on religion that he took in his 1988 international best-seller "A Brief History of Time", Hawking said the Big Bang was merely the consequence of the law of gravity.
"Because there is a law such as gravity, the Universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the Universe exists, why we exist," he writes in "The Grand Design", which is being serialised by The Times newspaper.
"It is not necessary to invoke God to light the blue touch paper and set the Universe going," added the wheelchair-bound expert.
Am I the only one who thinks it's wrong that in the lastest swiffer mop commercials,…?
November 4th, 2010,…it refers to the old mop or cleaing product of some sort as a male?
The female spokesperson said "But don’t worry, he’ll find somebody else." It then shows the product looking at another object with the "who’se that lady" song.
Have any of you bothered to write to them or complain to anybody how sexist that is toward men?
Surely if you’re a mom and you have a son, surely you wouldn’t want this stuff offending them, would you?
I am offended by the swiffer commercials with the "Love Stinks" song in them because they are either referring to it as a male or implying that it is one.
WHO ARE THESE SWIFFER PEOPLE?
ARE THEY WOMEN WHO HATE MEN?
OR ARE THEY MEN WHO ARE AFRAID WOMEN WILL HATE THEM IF THEY DON’T SHOW MISANDRY IN THEIR COMMERCIALS?
I am offended that they only showing women in those cleaning commercials, the glade commercials, and only women using the product in the febreeze commercials.
As a guy, am I not supposed to use them or know how to use them? Why aren’t they labing these products as female-only where the purchaser at the checkout counter must make sure you’re female, much like they make sure you’re at least 18 years old if you buy cigarettes or chewing tobacco or how they need to make sure you’re at least 21 when you trying to purchase alcohol?
Have you been writing to the people who made these commercials yet, where you also told them how sexist and wrong it was to refer to the old cleaning product as a male?
Afterall, WHAT IF the user of the product was a male, and spokesperson(male or female, doesn’t matter which one), said "But don’t worry, she’ll find somebody else."
How would that make YOU feel?
Get the picture?
I personally have not wrote to them yet, but I have wrote to Wal-Mart headquarters about that clown commercial that I saw back in January, which I found offensive, where the clown impales their foot and those two women(probably mothers of some of those kids) didn’t even rush over to help or call 911, they just sat there looking on. I wrote to them expressing my disgust about the commercial, a female employee from headquarters over there wrote back to me.
If the clown were a woman and the two men on that couch(probably fathers of some of those kids) didn’t even rush over to help her of call 911 after she badly impaled get foot, wouldn’t YOU be offended???
Someone’s foot getting severely impaled(man or woman) is not something that’s supposed to be taken funny or light-hearted(like what that Wal-mart commercial was doing), it’s a SERIOUS injury that could require a cast and being in a wheelchair for months(I said this in my letter to Wal-Mart).
If you wouldn’t consider it funny or "no big deal" if this happened to a woman, then you shouldn’t think that either if it were to happen to a man.
I once stepped in a roofing nail that went through my show, it barely penetrated my foot, by foot was OK, but for a unicorn spike like tin that commercial to be that big and sharp and go ALL THE WAY THROUGH, hell, that could also mean shattered bones in someone’s foot, which would defintitely mean a wheelchair and cast for months, something that’s not funny, humorous, or light-hearted at all.
If you ask me, I think the shame that men in general have been conditioned to feel in just being a man and just for having the 100% natural male hormone testosterone, have caused to much negative treatment of men in general in general society and men in general in many TV commercials.
I think it men fought this and told everyone else they’re wrong for saying the male hormone is bad, that’s is a good thing, I think men would be treated good again.
To think the male hormone is bad, yet to know you’re a male, it only makes sense to feel bad for just being who you are, if you buy into it, if you choose to believe them.
Testosterone in men is no worse than estrogen in women, but this is something men in general fail to believe.
please help me find this horror movie..?

• God did not create Universe ?

Crazy dream?!?!??! 10 points?
October 19th, 2010I dreamt that my friend ( lets call her L) and i were walking to my other friends house ( R ) , it was at night, and there was a graveyard near her house ( like right next to it) anyway, so R and her brother had been playing with the ouiji board or something, and when we looked through her window we saw a red light with a skeleton behind her window and it said , if u open this door ull open the door to hell, and i wanted to leave and pull my friend with me but before I could tell L not to open it, she opened the door and I’m not sure what happend I think we got sucked into the house, and the house was very dark and the lights were broken and it was flickering, I saw R and she was possessed and walking very strange, and i was thinking to myself holy shit what did they do!! and her brother was there too, he was also possessed and then I was looking for a way out but everywhere was dark and then all of a sudden I was upstairs for some reason, I looked down and i saw an empty wheelchair by the stairs and the lights were flickering there too and it was kind of bright!
and i saw R again and she was walking like a zombie and she was bloody, and I’m not sure where L was. and then all of a sudden i saw myself standing in a cemetery ( the one by her house ) , it was very dark and then I saw myself getting possessed too and my appearance kept changing, I looked very scary, my face was pale and I was all bloody and I had blood coming out of my mouth and it was on my throat and chest, and i think i was screaming, and i was wearin a ripped black dress i think? And then i changed back to myself and I waS wearing a white dress and my face was all clean and it looked like i was smiling, i looked all innocent ( the kind of dresses that u get to wear at the hospital) and then I changed back to the "possessed me" with blood and everything, i kept changing back and forth really fast, and it looked like a hologram or something, i was standing beside a grave when all that happened and the grave that I was standing next to was empty/open, but then I saw R by another grave, she was on her knees and she put something over the grave and she was sowing it or something I don’t know, so that the evil spirit can’t come out again. and I never came out of that graveyard
And then I woke up, don’t remember what else happened in the dream
What could this mean?
Thanks

Would you consider another thought on Assisted Living that might work for us Senior Citizens?
October 17th, 2010Please comment – I received this from a dear friend today – I like the concept very much…
Food for thought:
Let’s put the seniors in jail, and the criminals in nursing homes.
This way the seniors would have access to showers, hobbies, and walks.
They’d receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment , wheelchairs,
etc.
And they’d receive money instead of paying it out.
They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly if they fell
or needed assistance.
Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to
them.
A guard would check on them every 20 minutes, and bring their meals and snacks to their
cell.
They could have family visits in a suite built for that purpose.
They could have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool, and
education.
Simple clothing , shoes, slippers, P.J.’s and legal aid would be free, on request.
Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard — with gardens.
Each senior could have a personal computer, TV, radio, and daily phone calls.
There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code
of conduct, that would be strictly adhered to.
The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone, and unsupervised.
Lights off at 8 p.m., and showers once a week.
Live in a tiny room , and pay ,500.00 per month and have no hope of ever getting out.
Check with me later for my new prison address.
I would guess that the point of this old joke is not to be taken literally but the comparison in many areas in our country of the amount of budget expended on criminal housing & adequacy vs housing & care for the Aged. The workhouses of prison are not – the high security prisons are air-condition, properly staffed, medically attended. Few indigent Aged will be afforded the compassionate attn that would be proper – even at a lower cost.. We tend to be much more benevolent towards criminals – even excessively.
Would like to mount speakers to ultralight titanium wheelchair any ideas?
October 9th, 2010its an ultralight titanium chair so it doesnt weight much. this gives me more to work with as far as adding weight. ive only got so much realestate to work with however for the placement so size is critical smaller the better but i dont want to sacrifice to much in sound quality. it should be a method with decent to excellent bass so a subwoofer with good sound. ive looked into an all in one way of doing it but havent found yet one that looks like it will mount where it needs to go below the solid carbon fiber seat bottom. if you know of one that may work let me know. otherwise i guess ill have to mount a sub under and the smaller high speakers out the sides. it would be cool if i could have the option to add a syncronized led light kit to it. i suppose one of those square twelve volt batteries that are used to power things like lanterns and such would be a good choice for power unless somebody can thing of anything else. thanks for your time!!!!! -Weelz

I might be pregnant, should I push a wheelchair?
October 6th, 2010I just don’t know if it is considered too much strain. the girl has no function and isn’t light. But I don’t lift it or her. We walk for about 1 1/2 hours. There’s a little strain when we go up and down curbs, but that’s it. It’s strain on my back (I have a really bad back) but if I’m pregnant it’s just the implantation stage. I can’t even take a test. I have light spotting, I’m super tired all the time and light headed for no reason. I’ve also had a lot of stress, so it could be that. My husband and I have been trying.
I’m mostly concerned because I lost my first pregnancy, but have a beautiful baby boy since then.

how much should I pay my carer per hour?
October 3rd, 2010I am a 20-something young physically disabled woman in south Wiltshire area looking to employ somebody part-time to help in a general capacity, mostly fetching and carrying for me with a bit of cooking and light housework sometimes too, personal care limited to pushing wheelchair around house and helping me transfer to and from shower/toilet. Can anyone advise an appropriate rate for this kind of work?
(We’re all feeling the pinch a bit like everyone else but would still like to pay a fair wage.)
wedding tips: groom is wheelchair bound and wedding is tomorrow!?
September 30th, 2010A friend contacted me just today to ask if I would shoot her in-laws wedding tomorrow as someone they had asked to do it had backed out at the last minute. I agreed as there is no way they can get someone else on short notice and this is a favor as they couldn’t afford a professional wedding photographer. I’ve only done one wedding so far, also as a favor to someone who could not afford a pro wedding photog. (Just want you pros to know I’m not advertising myself as a pro wedding photog and not taking jobs away from pro photogs for couples who can afford to pay one.)
The wedding is at 7pm outdoors so the light should be quite beautiful. This is a very small family affair at the couple’s home, probably about 20 guests and fairly casual.
The groom was paralyzed a few years ago and so will be in a wheelchair. I’m wondering if anyone has any posing experience or tips for this situation.
I’d also love to hear any tips for shooting a wedding outdoors. I had been to the location a few years ago but since I just found out about this I haven’t had a chance to go check it out.
ANY tips or advice you have to offer (with exception to not shooting the wedding) is very welcome and very appreciated.
Thank you for the tips. I was thinking that having others seated when posed with the groom might work best and was trying to figure out how to do that. Chairs seems obvious to me now that it’s been mentioned.
I don’t necessarily want to hide the chair, but also thought that others trying to bend down to the groom’s height would look awkward.
I do have a couple of larger manual flash units (and one smaller one) and triggers and have been learning off-camera flash. I could take my stands and umbrella boxes and set that up. I just don’t have a lot of experience with it yet.
Thanks again for all your suggestions.
Help opening doors from a wheelchair?
September 30th, 2010Hello, I’m newly paraplegic after an accident in early May, and I’ve been having some trouble with this. I don’t mean just the light classroom-type doors because those are easy to open…(Like in rehab) For some reason, my town uses a lot of super heavy metal doors that are not wheelchair-accessible. (I can’t just get out of the wheelchair for a few seconds to open it) I fell out of my chair recently attempting to open one of these and I’m sick of other people having to open them for me.
Wheelchair users, do you have any tips for opening doors more easily? Thank you.
